Afforestation and reforestation (ARR) of degraded mangrove areas in Java

Indonesia's extensive mangrove forests play a critical role in biodiversity, carbon sequestration and supporting local livelihoods. With its 47 different mangrove species and a linear coverage of 43% the country's coastline, Indonesia has the world's largest mangroves area representing an important natural carbon sink. However, human activities as acquaculture, agriculture and coastal development have led to susbstantial degradation, causing the loss of more than 70% of mangrove ecosystems in the past 30 years.

Our project located in Java covers an area of 3,200 hectares, with possible extension. The project aims at restoring and preserving the site area through afforestation and reforestation actions. In collaboration with our local partners and with the support of local communities, we conduct the feasibility study, implementation and monitoring of the project through its entire duration.

With our expertise in mangrove restoration and conservation, and by rigorously following VERRA's methodology (VM0033), we ensure the project's Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and Climate, Community & Biodiversity (CCB) certification, and issuance of high-quality and high-integrity carbon credits.

Engage in a low carbon future by investing in impactful climate action and by supporting biodiversity and livelihoods of local communities. Get in touch with our team of experts!
